COVID Procedures at our Early Childhood Learning Center

Applebee Montessori provides a top quality Montessori preschool education and accepts children starting at 6 weeks through Elementary School age for the After School program, Summer Camps, and Kindergarten. As a licensed Child Care Center in the State of Texas, these are just some of the ways we are dealing with COVID-19.

Although our business hours are 6:30 am to 6:30 pm – children may begin arriving at 7 am and may stay until 6 pm. The half-hour before and after school is time our teachers need to sanitize their classrooms – over and above the daily janitorial service that is performed every evening after the children are gone.

We have limited access to the building to students and critical staff only. Everyone will have their temperature taken prior to being permitted entry into the building. Anyone with a temperature of 100 degrees or more will not be allowed to enter. All students and teachers will have their temperatures taken again at lunchtime.

Although sharing amongst classmates is the usual practice in a Montessori school, we have made sure that every child has their own Play-Doh, crayons, pencils, and other classroom supplies. Since parents are not permitted into our school building while there are children present, our preschool uses the Child Pilot app for day-to-day real-time updates and regular online meetings in place of face-to-face parent/teacher conferences.

Any child that has a family member in their home who has tested positive for COVID-19 must be kept home for 2 weeks following their last exposure to that family member. Any child who has visited a family member with a possible COVID-19 diagnosis must be kept home for 2 weeks following their last exposure to the family member.

All staff members are required to abide by the same rules as the children and remain equally mindful of their own health and to use the utmost caution when not at school. All our staff have completed the additional training regarding COVID-19 and virus spread as required by Texas Child Care Licensing.

For families interested in enrolling at Applebee Montessori Academy, opportunities to tour the preschool and daycare center will take place after all the children have left at 6 pm or on the weekends.

Our ability to remain open and operational for the benefit of both the staff and our enrolled families is entirely dependent on everyone taking every precaution possible at all times.
